Course description
Lectures Theme 1. Basic concepts of soil mechanics and foundations. The value of the course in modern construction. Output data for the design of foundations. Assessment of engineering and geological conditions of the construction site.
Theme 2. Soil mechanics. Physical and mechanical properties of soils.
Theme 3. Theory of the boundary stress state of soils. Deformation of soils and calculation of soil compaction under the foundations of structures.
Theme 4. Designing of foundations using two groups of boundary states. Estimation of buildings and structures for rigidity. Types of deformation of buildings and structures. Reasons for the development of uneven subsidence of soils. The concept of a weak underlying layer.
Theme 5. Shallow foundations. Strip foundations. Foundations under the column.
Theme 6. Calculation and designing of shallow foundations. Structures of shallow foundations. Determination the depth of the foundation. Determination of the shape and size of the foundation plate. Design and calculation of rigid foundations for deformations. Design and calculation of flexible foundations by deformations.
Theme 7. Usage of pile foundations. Classification of pile foundations.
Theme 8. Calculation and design of pile foundations. Mechanics of the interaction between piles and soil. Classification of piles and pile foundations. Calculation of piles for carrying capacity. Energy calculation method for piles. Determination of bearing capacity of piles according to the tests of static and dynamic load. Piles that are made in the soil. Calculation of bearing capacity of piles under the action of horizontal and vertical loads.
